Privacy policy · Last updated 30 July 2026
Your privacy, without the cookie theatre.
Reflux Queen is run by Hannah Gledhill Farnes. I collect as little personal information as possible, use it only for clear purposes and do not sell it. A surprisingly radical concept on the internet.
The important bit
No cookie banner.
Because there are no cookies.
This website does not currently place cookies on your device. I do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels or cookie-based analytics, so there is nothing for you to accept, reject or spend six minutes configuring while your dinner goes cold.
If you would like a reflux-friendly cookie recipe, however, you are very welcome to email me. 😉
If that changes, I will update this policy and—where the law requires it—ask for your consent before any non-essential cookies are used.
Who is responsible
The data controller
Hannah Gledhill Farnes, trading as Reflux Queen, is the data controller for personal information handled through this website.
Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hannah@refluxqueen.co.uk.
When you email me
I receive your email address, name (if supplied), the contents of your message and any other information you choose to include. I use this to reply, keep appropriate business records and deal with any request or complaint. The lawful basis is usually legitimate interests, or taking steps at your request before entering a contract.
When you join the newsletter
Once newsletter signup is enabled, I will collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name. I will use these details to send the emails you asked for. The lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing me.
Technical information
Like most websites, the hosting provider may create security and server logs containing information such as an IP address, browser type, requested page and date or time. These logs help keep the site secure and working. They are not cookies and are not used by me to build advertising profiles.
How it is handled
Sharing, storage and retention
I do not sell your personal information or share it for third-party advertising.
Information may be processed by trusted service providers that help operate the website, email or newsletter. They may act only on my instructions and must protect the information appropriately. If a provider processes information outside the UK, I will use an approved safeguard where required, such as UK adequacy regulations or contractual protections.
I keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose collected, including legal, accounting and security requirements. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe or consent is otherwise withdrawn; correspondence may be retained where needed to manage enquiries or establish legal claims.
Under UK data protection law, depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal information;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask for information to be erased or its use restricted;
- object to certain uses of your information;
- receive information in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier lawful use.
Email hannah@refluxqueen.co.uk to exercise a right. I may need to confirm your identity first—privacy requests should not become an exciting new route for strangers to acquire your data.
You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, although I would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
